You don't need to be a musher or even have a dog to appreciate the three accomplished international distance mushers presenting two not-to-be-missed seminars, on the evening of 9th and 10th August 2024. Whether you're a distance musher, a sprint musher, someone who loves to run and exercise with your dog, or just someone with an interest in dogs or mushing, this is an amazing opportunity to hear about nutrition, training, conditioning and dog care for canine athletes from some of the best mushers in the world, not to mention, hear some amazing tales from the trail. Our presenting mushers are:

Canine Complementary Therapies

What Are They ?

Canine complementary therapies are used alongside conventional veterinary medicine and can form an important part of a comprehensive treatment or injury prevention plan for dogs. They help to rebuild or maintain muscle strength, aid flexibility, manage weight and pain, as well as improve and maintain the general health, fitness and wellbeing of your dog.

Dan Kaduce

MUSHING PRESENTER

Dan is originally from Wisconsin and now lives in Chatanika, Alaska. He and his wife (Jodi) run Dew Claw Kennel where they share their lives with approximately 40 dogs. Dan has been Mushing for over 2 decades and is a multiple Yukon Quest 1000 and Iditarod finisher. Dan and his mushing style out on the trail has not gone unnoticed and he has won a number of awards for his dog care. His race history includes:
- 2004 Yukon Quest 1000 Veterinarians Choice Award
- 2010 Iditarod Rookie of the year
- 2018 (A very close) Second place in Copper Basin 300
- 2021 1st place Summit Quest 300
- 2021 16th place Iditarod and earned the Nome Kennel Club 'fastest time from Safety to Nome award'
- 2022 1st Place Yukon Quest Alaska 300
- 2022 4th place in Iditarod with ALL 14 canine team members finishing earning him the Leonard Seppala Humanitarian Award for Dog Care
- 2023 3rd place finish with all 14 dogs in the Willow 300

Jodi Bailey

MUSHING PRESENTER

Jodi Is a multiple Iditarod and Yukon Quest Musher who has been running dogs for over 20 years.
In 2011 she became the first rookie in history to run both the Yukon Quest and Iditarod in the same year! She is also a double GinGin 200 Champion.

Jodi lives in Chatanika at Dew Claw Kennel where she and her husband (Dan) run a tour business with their amazing Alaskan Huskies. Jodi has delivered presentations in various places and loves telling people about her experiences out on the trail. In her spare time Jodi is an artist and works with fused glass.

Rob Cooke

MUSHING PRESENTER

Rob Cooke, a mid and long distance dog musher, operates Shaytaan Siberian Huskies, just out of Whitehorse. With a kennel of 47 pure bred Siberian Huskies, Rob has been running Siberian Huskies since 1997. Starting in dryland sprint in the UK, then on to short mid distance races on the east coast of North America. Rob and his team have finished the Yukon Quest on multiple occasions and have been the recipient of the Sportsmanship award. Rob has have taken part in the Iditarod 3 times including being the only musher running pure bred dogs to complete both Yukon Quest and Iditarod 1000 mile races back-to-back in the same winter (in 2015 and 2016). In addition to long distance racing, Rob has completed the Copper Basin 300, billed as the toughest 300 mile race in Alaska 6 times, and finished 2nd in the 2012 Yukon Quest 300 where he was awarded the Vet Choice award for excellence in dog care.

Rob has presented on Siberian Huskies, mushing and the Yukon Quest in North America, Australia, Russia and Europe.

Lucy Anderson

CANINE FIRST AID PRESENTER

Meet Lucy, our esteemed instructor for the Canine First Aid Course. Lucy brings a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience in veterinary nursing, coupled with a deep passion for ensuring the well-being of our beloved furry friends. Get ready to embark on a journey of learning essential first aid skills for your canine companions, guided by Lucy's commitment to empowering dog owners with the confidence to handle emergencies effectively. Join us as we delve into the world of canine first aid under Lucy's expert guidance and ensure you're well-equipped to be your dog's first line of defence in any situation

Ashleigh Neave

HYDROTHERAPY PRESENTER

As a founding committee member of the NZACH and currently serving her second consecutive term as President, Ashleigh is a highly experienced and professional canine hydrotherapist. She has combined her love for sports, having competed on the international cycling circuit, and her love for dogs, she has six of her own, into owning and operating a successful hydrotherapy clinic, actively promoting the health and wellbeing of all dogs. With a Bachelor of Recreation and Level 5 Advanced Hydrotherapist qualifications, Ashleigh creates individual treatment plans that ensure the very best outcomes for her clients. Join Ashleigh and discover the benefits of canine hydrotherapy for rehabilitation, mobility, fitness, weight management and therapeutic conditioning.

Stef Meier

MASSAGE PRESENTER

Stef, owner/operator of Dog-On Adventures, certified canine remedial massage therapist, certified in canine nutition, professional dog walker and sled dog skills coach. Stef has had a life long passion for dogs but it wasn't until she started working with sled dogs in Canada that she found her real passion... creating opportunities for dogs to thrive. This has led her down a path of health care and injury/illness prevention. Canine massage therapy can help both recovery from injuries and prevent some injuries from occurring in the first place. Come along and learn how you can help your dog in your home and the benefits of canine massage.

Helen Robartes

PHYSIOTHERAPY PRESENTER

Helen is a qualified human and veterinary Physiotherapist, and her core purpose is to help animals and their humans lead their best lives together, in performance, recovery, and quality of life. Having studied human Physiotherapy just so she could specialise in animals. Helen completed an MSc in Veterinary Physiotherapy at the Royal Vet College of London, and has worked in the UK, Denmark, and her home of South Africa. In 2020 Helen the Physio was established and Helen sees a mix of horses, dogs, humans, the odd cat, has treated an alpaca and even a Little Blue Penguin. Join Helen as she shares her love for animals and physiotherapy.

Renate Haveman

ACUPUNCTURE PRESENTER

Renate graduated as a small animal vet from Utrecht University in the Netherlands. After spending most of that time in general practice enjoying the wide variety of clinical work and surgery she has developed a passion for canine rehabilitation and sports medicine. After achieving post graduate certifications in acupuncture and canine rehabilitation Renate is able to help injured or older dogs getting back on track faster and providing better quality of life for our pets.
